João O. Malva is Past-President of the Portuguese Society for Neuroscience.
João O. Malva is Past-President of the Portuguese Society for Neuroscience (2007-2011), full member of EDAB (European DANA Alliance for the Brain), published near 110 scientific peer-reviewed manuscripts, several book chapters, including editor of "Interaction Between Neurons and Glia in Ageing and Disease - Springer". He has been cited near 3000 times, h factor 36, in the area of neuroprotection, neuroinflammation and neurogenesis in brain ageing and repair. He holds a PhD degree in Cell Biology (University of Coimbra, 1997) and "Agregação / Habilitation" in Biomedicine (University of Coimbra, 2009). He is member of the Board of Directors of the PhD Program in Health Sciences of Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra and moderator of the working group on “Innovation and Entrepreneurship on Healthy Living and Active Ageing, Master and PhD programs EIT Label. João O. Malva is Research Coordinator at the Faculty of Medicine, and Science Coordinator of the Regional Consortium Ageing@Coimbra, European Reference Site of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing and member of the Executive Committee of the Reference Site Collaborative Network.
